Set an intention to create a positive, pleasurable space around your music practice.
We play music. And “play” is supposed to be fun. Our instruments are beautiful and
the music is beautiful. So practice time should be a treat, a reward, not an obligation
that we dread. We will practice practicing, using some simple music and a metronome.
We’ve discovered the value of going slowly through a piece using the metronome. This
technique gives you all the time in the world to perfect finger placement on the chord
buttons and finding the right strings for plucking melodies.
